The experiences of zeb/ show that it is impossible to do without manual data correction in practice. Whenever possible, corrections should be directly made in the feeder system. In many cases, however, this cannot be done in a timely fashion so that corrections need to be made in centralised databases (e.g. data warehouse) in an upgrading step. Specifically, zeb//control data management supports you with the following functionalities:
This web application that can be deployed in IT centres allows numerous users, who need not have any detailed technical knowledge, to correct, allocate and logically eliminate data in line with their user permissions in their field of responsibilities. This permits the transparent and logged elimination, modification or re-supply of data in diverse functional contexts.
Both before and after loading from feeder system, the data are corrected. In parallel, the data are also corrected at the result database levels. Ad-hoc checks already prevent mistakes during data entry and directly highlight violations of the rules to the user. zeb/'s approach holds a pioneering position in the DQM market as it ensures the integrated, active assurance of data quality instead of passively reacting to errors identified. The likelihood of technical and functional input mistakes is minimised.
The changes made are entered and logged in a web interface or Excel. Thereby, the entire correction process is traceable and transparent.
Get an idea of the functions of the module Data Cleansing and view a selection of screenshots of the program interface.
You can enter manual data corrections in the web frontend to generate correction records. The web-based correction table allows you to work efficiently.
Extensive filtering options allow you to screen the records so that only the data to be corrected are displayed.
To make data input as easy as possible, you can provide pre-defined drop-down lists.
All the records can be downloaded as an Excel or CSV file to your local computer so that you can subsequently use, for example, Excel functionalities.
You may also upload data from CSV or Excel directly to the correction table. If errors occur during loading, they are described in the log in detail.
Data quality is already checked directly during input. These verifications include data types, mandatory fields and parts of lists of valid values.
In a second step, all correction records are validated on the basis of complex DQ rules (mandatory before the records are released).
All the fields affected by errors or warnings are highlighted in colour. A list of all errors and warnings is shown in the Problems tab.
